Freedom, My Behind

In our blessed attempt to turn Iraq into a Jeffersonian democracy, we've missed this problem.

When the US Commission on International Religous Freedom has put Iraq on it's "watch list," democracy and freedom is NOT on the march. By the way, it may also be startling to hear Afghanistan is also on the list.

It shouldn't be surprising though. The neocon theocratic thugs in the White House aren't big fans of religious freedom. They talk of democracy and freedom, the freedom to be or not to be religious isn't one of those. The only thing stopping the US from being on that "watch list" is the First Amendment.
